New Information on 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic:
Researchers believe the 1918 Pandemic which was responsible for the deaths of 50 million people may not be a flu virus as had been suspected. They say new studies have shown it may be a bacteria. The flu virus may have acted as the lock picker by weakening the lungs allowing the lungs to open and the bacteria to enter.
Normally when an outbreak occurs and many people die the first thing a country does is point fingers and blame other countries for the outbreak. I find it strange that while they are not sure where the Pandemic known as the Spanish flu came from, America and France are both trying to take credit for it.
“If the virus that caused the 1918 flu re-appeared today, while it was a million times more potent than the average modern flu virus most people living today would have some immunity to viruses in the 1918 virus family (known as H1N1)” [NPR.org]
