Ever since I watched The Original Kings of Comedy at a friends house several years ago (2001 or 2002) I enjoyed hearing when a new movie would come out with Bernie Mac in it. His act on The Original Kings of Comedy was the first time I heard about him, but I instantly wanted to see more, so when I heard a new movie was coming out I couldn’t wait to see what he had brought to the table that time.
I woke up this morning and got on the computer to do my usual routine of checking emails, checking the site, etc. When I went to the Yahoo! homepage I noticed one of the headline news was “Bernie Mac dies at age 50″, so I put my routine on hold to read it and post about it. It’s sad to believe he has brought his act to the table for the final time.
Bernie Mac was scheduled in 4 post-productions, two of which being t.v. series.
- Welcome to the Family (2008, TV)
- Starting Under (2008, TV)
- Soul Men (2008)
- Old Dogs (2009)

I put my routine on hold as well to make a post. I felt the overwhelming need to write about it.

Nice post. I was shocked when I found out this afternoon - I was gone all morning. I couldn’t help but cry. He was a great man. <3

[Melody]
Hi Melody, I think many people felt they should write about it after hearing. I found out about Isaac Hayes just before going to bed last night and took the time to write a quick article for him as well. It’s just extremely sad how good talent is dying so suddenly.
[Mira]
Hi Mira, it has been one of the weekends that people wish had not happened. I’m just glad that Morgan Freeman pulled through. I just realized today that Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes were 2 of the 3 staring in the movie Soul Men (3rd is Samuel L. Jackson). You know they have to be wondering what the chance of 66% of the stars of a single movie dying in the same weekend (without being murdered that is).

This one really floored me - I mean someone so full of life! So energetic and exuberant…and bloody flat-out hilarious. It’s been a pretty crappy year (kickstarted by the shocking loss of Heath Ledger, now this, and with rumors - though I pray to God they’re refuted - of Paul Newman’s rapidly deteriorating health, then of course there’s Patrick Swayze’s cancer). To be fair, ppl die all the time, but man it really really sux.

I didn’t know he and Isaac Hayes are in ‘Soul Men’…that just sounds like bad karma.
